Press Release : REMIX SHOW

■ Exhibition Intro

CHANG ART GALLERY based in Beijing is delighted to announce the REMIX SHOW. The first exhibition of the New Year will run from January 9 to February 28, 2010. Since the opening exhibition “SPACE for PERSPECTIVE” in February 2009, CHANG ART has successfully held seven exhibitions. As a contemporary art gallery, we represent emerging and recognized artists, both nationally and internationally. The gallery seeks to contribute to transnational communication of contemporary art world in China. Artists who participated in CHANG ART’s exhibitions last year include: Julian Schnabel, Paul Huxley (influential in international art world); Choong sup Lim (representative of Korean Minimalism and Conceptual Art); and Park Sung Tae (well received in China for his powerful installation works). CHANG ART also has been planning the annual exhibition, BRIDGE PROJECT, which aims to promote young artists.

The REMIX SHOW features: four internationally recognized artists (Park Sung Tae, Choong sup Lim, Paul Huxley, Julian Schnabel), a Korean artist (Park Seung Soon), and seven young Chinese video artists (Chen Xiaoyun, Cheng Ran, Dong Wensheng, Gao Shiqiang, Ni Keyun, Sun Xun, Zhou Xiaohu). The exhibition explores a vast range of media: painting, print, installation, video as well as limited edition accessories, which will offer visitors a totally new experience transcending nationality and art styles. In addition CHANG ART will show the film, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007), directed by Julian Schnabel every Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. The film won the Best Director award at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and other prestigious film awards.

In 2010, CHANG ART will continue to provide high quality exhibits that showcase Asian and international contemporary art and contribute to Beijing art community.

■ 展览介绍

2010年1月9日至2月28日，北京昌阿特画廊将展出2010庚寅年第一个展览——REMIX SHOW。2009年2月举办开馆展“空间•感受”以来，昌阿特共举办了7次展览，全面囊括了当代艺术的现况，从亚洲艺术到欧美艺术，从年轻艺术家到成熟艺术家，从油画作品到装置作品。在全球金融危机带来的冷空气中，昌阿特为中国当代艺术的跨国交流付出了持续不断的努力。去年参展的主要艺术家有：在世界当代艺术史上具有巨大影响力的艺术家朱利安•施纳贝尔和保罗•赫斯李；代表韩国极简主义和观念艺术的艺术家林忠燮；以强大气势的装置作品赢得中国艺术爱好者非凡关注的朴成泰等。除了成名的艺术家，昌阿特还举办了旨在推动年轻艺术家的年度策划展——BRIDGE PROJECT。

此次展览旧曲新唱，除了2009年举办个展4位艺术家（朴成泰、林忠燮、保罗•赫斯李、朱利安•施纳贝尔）的代表作外，还将展出韩国艺术家朴承顺的作品和7名中国年轻艺术家（陈晓云、程然、董文胜、高世强、倪柯耘、孙逊、周啸虎）的影像作品。参展作品包括绘画、版画、装置、影像以及艺术家限量制作的首饰。这些参展作品将为广大艺术爱好者提供超越国籍、体裁的全新视觉盛宴。除此之外，昌阿特还计划每周六、日下午2点播放朱利安•施纳贝尔执导的电影《潜水钟与蝴蝶》，这部电影于2007年获得了戛纳电影节最佳导演奖。

在新的一年里，昌阿特将展出更加丰富多彩的亚洲与欧美当代艺术，并持续努力为北京当代艺术界做出贡献。

베이징 창아트는 2010년 경인년의 첫 전시, “REMIX SHOW”를 1월 9일부터 2월 28일까지 개최한다. 창아트는 지난해 동안 세계적인 금융위기로 얼어붙은 미술시장 속에서도 2009년 개관전 “관념의 공간”을 시작으로 7번의 전시를 개최하며 중국 현대미술의 세계문화교류에 활성화하는데 꾸준한 노력을 기울였다. 창아트 기획전에 참여한 작가들 중에는 세계 현대미술사에 지대한 영향을 미친 줄리안 슈나벨, 폴 헉슬리와 같은 거장들의 개인전부터, 아시아 현대미술을 대표하는 한국의 개념적인 미니멀리스트 작가 임충섭과 파워풀한 설치작품으로 중국 관람객들에게 폭발적인 반응을 받았던 박성태를 비롯, 얼마 전에는 젊은 신진작가들을 발굴하고 후원하는 브릿지 프로젝트를 개최하면서 중견작가부터 젊은 작가까지 동서양 현대미술의 다양한 작품들을 선보이는데 주력하였다.

리믹스란 원래의 곡에 새로운 요소를 가미하여 색다른 방식으로 연주하는 것을 가리키는 음악용어이다. 이번 전시는 창아트의 2009년을 빛낸 작가들 (박성태, 임충섭, 폴 헉슬리, 줄리안 슈나벨)의 작품들과 새롭게 소개하는 한국 작가 박승순, 그리고 중국의 젊은 작가들 (천샤오윈, 청란, 동원셩, 가오스챵, 니커윈, 쑨쉰, 저우샤오후)의 영상작업까지 가미하여 작품들의 색다른 하모니를 선보이고자 한다. 이번 전시에는 설치, 조각, 영상, 회화부터 작가가 특별 기획한 장신구 작품까지 다양한 장르가 선보여질 예정이다. 시대와 정신 그리고 장르를 초월한 크로스 버전이 될 이번 전시에서는 특별하게 줄리안 슈나벨이 2007년 칸 영화제에서 감독상을 수상한 영화 “잠수종과 나비”를 매주 토요일, 일요일 2시부터 상영할 예정이며, 이에 대한 많은 문화인들의 관심을 기대한다.

창아트는 올 한해는 더 풍성한 전시 프로그램으로 아시아 현대미술과 서양 현대미술을 다채롭게 소개하며 베이징 미술 커뮤니티에 신선하게 기여하는 성장하는 젊은 화랑으로서의 끊임없는 노력을 기할 것이다.
