The Chinese society attempts to re-emerge as the center of politics, economy, society and culture in the world by leveraging the 2008 Beijing Olympics. China that is excited over its rapid growth, it also led the international art community to be embroiled by the new trend, ‘China Avant-garde’. World-class galleries, art museums and collectors focused on the flow of the artistic community, and actively expressed their interest by collecting and showcasing the major works. Prior to the opening, Watergate Gallery preempted the artworks of the representative Chinese contemporary artists who are gaining the attention of the world to factor in the flow of the international art community, to feature ‘Communicate with the Chinese Contemporary Art.’ Through this exhibition, Watergate Gallery introduces the Chinese artists who want to play the role of heart in the world art going beyond the Chinese contemporary art, and provides the opportunity to meet the artworks of Chinese contemporary art today and those whereabouts tomorrow are worthy of the spotlight. It is possible to check the essence of the Chinese contemporary art through the artworks of the artists who are catching the attention including Zhang Xiaogang, Yue MInjun, Feng Zhengjie, Zeng Fanzhi, Yin Zhaoyang, Yang Shaobin, Wang Huaxiang and others.
通过2008北京奥运会,中国将会成为世界政治、经济、社会、文化的中心之一。 整个社会处于飞速发展状态的中国，给世界艺术界带来了如激流般的中国前卫艺术。 世界级的画廊、美术馆以及收藏家极度关注世界艺术界的发展趋势，并以极快地步伐与实践证明了这点。WATERGATE GALLERY的开馆展“与中国现代美术的沟通”，精选了目前在世界艺术界里备受关注并反映当下国际艺术界发展趋势的中国当代艺术家的作品。通过本次展览，WATERGATE GALLERY给韩国的艺术爱好者介绍超越中国当代艺术，为世界艺术界起心脏作用的中国艺术家，提供亲眼欣赏代表目前中国当代艺术并可以注目往后步伐的高水平杰作的机会。参展艺术家有张晓刚、岳敏君、俸正杰、曾樊志、尹朝阳、杨少斌、王华祥等，他们的作品可称为中国当代艺术的精髓。
중국사회는 2008년 북경 올림픽을 통해 명실공히 세계의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화의 중심지로 재도약 하려 한다. 전반적으로 급 발전하는 들뜬 분위기 속 중국은 세계 미술계를 차이나 아방가르드라는 물결에 휩싸이게 하였다. 세계적인 갤러리와 미술관, 그리고 컬렉터 들은 변화하는 미술계의 흐름에 집중하였고 발 빠른 행보와 실행으로 그 관심을 적극적으로 표출하였다. 워터게이트 갤러리는 개관 전으로 전 세계적으로도 많은 주목을 받고 있는 중국 현대미술의 대표주자들의 작품을 선점하여 이러한 국제 미술계의 흐름의 일면을 반영하는 ‘중국 현대미술과의 소통 展’을 시작한다. 이번 전시를 통해 워터게이트 갤러리는 중국 현대미술을 넘어 세계미술의 심장 역할을 하고자 하는 중국 작가들을 국내에 소개하고, 오늘날 중국 현대 미술을 대표하고 앞으로의 행보가 주목되는 작가의 수준 높은 작품을 만날 수 있는 기회를 제공하고자 한다. 장샤오강, 유에민준, 펑정지에, 쩡판즈, 인자오양, 양샤오빈, 왕화샹 등의 작품을 통해 지금도 다수의 이목을 집중시키고 있는 중국 현대 미술의 정수를 확인해 볼 수 있다.
